On the afternoon of November 17, 2021
Through the online meeting at the Ministry, an signing ceremony was held between the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation and the World Intellectual Property Organization on the Cooperation Agreement for the Office of Intellectual Property Office Development Project.

The signing ceremony was between HE Kittisetha Dr. Cham Prasidh, Senior Minister, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation and HE Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization. Mr. (WIPO).

 

HE Kittisetha Dr. Senior Minister Cham Prasidh informed the ceremony about the progress of the Cambodian intellectual property sector, especially the patent to protect the invention and industrial painting. (Industrial Design) After Cambodia became a member of the Patent Cooperation Agreement (PCT) on December 08, 2016 and membership. The Hague Agreement for the Registration of International Industrial Paintings from February 25, 2017 to the present.

At the same time, HE Kittisetha Dr. Senior Minister also informed about the results of cooperation with a number of major intellectual property entities, including: Singapore-Japan Intellectual Property Unit. Korea-Europe-China and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

HE Daren Tang, Director-General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, briefed on the achievements – the use of intellectual property for technology development and innovation, as well as the provision of IT technical assistance to the intellectual property units of 90 member countries.

For the content of this signing ceremony, WIPO will provide technical assistance to the Ministry in upgrading the third generation automation system (Industrial Property Automation System Version 3 [ IPAS-3]) to the 4th generation Version 4, fully known as IPAS-4 to improve the information technology system to effectively serve the publication. Electronic (e-Publication) – Electronic application (e-filing) – Management for patents, patents and industrial drawings – Training of officers on the use IPAS-4-Technical Assistance in the Establishment of the Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) to Stimulate Research and Development Activities in the Epidemic of Kovid-19 disease.

On that occasion, WIPO pledged to continue to strengthen cooperation with Cambodia in the development of intellectual property.
